Posting again, because it seems to be read-only now.
"Unfortunately, since you are not a Time Warner Cable subscriber, you would not be eligible for the Free Wireless
through our TWC Hot Spots. You would need to subscribe to Standard Internet or higher to be eligible for this perk."
Not sure what the moderator is saying. I have standard internet service with TWC. I get a bill from them every month.
My TWC Wifi Hotspots do not work.....UNLESS....I turn the Data on too! Doesn't this defeat the purpose of wifi? Using data increases the cost! Why look at movies, tv or music when the data rates are huge?!
If I switch to TWC(Standard), from Earthlink, will I have access to TWC Wifi right away?
I'm out of town, and find TWC Wifi available regularly. I was going to order Standard Internet when back home, but if I can get access to Wifi right away, would put the order in now. Or do you have to pick up, and install hardware before having access. Any help is appreciated.
Whether it be an iPhone four, an iPhone 5, an iPhone 5c or an iPhone 6 Plus, Time Warner Wi-Fi hotspots absolutely positively do not work. All of the iPhone models listed are currently under the same cellular account and are all active. Each device is running the latest available ios for the model and despite strong hotspot signals, each device is unable to load a simple webpage let alone stream media.
Hi. I'm having problems using Wifi hotspots. I'm wondering if someone who reads these forums might have an idea of how to solve the problem I'm having.
I'm using an iPhone 5s running iOS 9.1. My iPhone is new (to me, at least; I bought it used two weeks ago).
When I tried to use a Time Warner wifi hotspot it sent me to a screen (I couldn't tell if it was a webpage) for me to verify my account. The top of the screen said “redir.twcwifi.com." Below, the screen said "Bad request syntax or unsupported method" and I was unable to do anything to log in.This happens for TWC Wifi Hotspots, TWC Wifi-Passpoint hotspots and Cable Wifi hotspots.
I talked to someone using Time Warner's live chat to find out what was causing the error. The person said I'd need to call from the wifi hotspot to troubleshoot the problem. But it's an outdoor hotspot and I can't use live chat and troubleshoot the wifi at the same time. She did say, though, that the issue might be some settings on my iPhone.
So I'm just wondering: does anyone have any idea if maybe the problem has to do with settings on my iPhone? Maybe I need to turn something on?
Thanks.
Connecting to TWC WIFI Hotspots without any problems. But cannot connect to my home based IPSEC VPN. There are no entries in my server logs indicating even a hint of connection activity. Nor is there any evidence in my router log of any activity on ports 500 or 4500. I am able to connect to my VPN successfully from the local McDonalds and other "guest" networks, so I'm pretty certain TWC is blocking my access. Can anyone shed some light on this?
There are multiple locations that my family's devices work well with TWCWiFi-Passpoint locations... Then there's the few that don't work on the secured system but will on the very unsafe, unsecured TWC and "Cable" WiFi channels. Uniformly, the signal strength was "very good" to "excellent."
This is a problem, how does it get fixed? TWC.
By the way, your "partnership" with Cox Cable in the greater San Diego area includes a bunch of unsecured locations. Why not work to make: 1) Signing on as a TWC "guest" easier (without having to enter a bunch of marketing-related information for Cox) and 2) Getting a secure channel for us to use. The only time anybody has ever messed with me was after I did e-mail at an Apple store. Unsecured WiFi is big trouble!
over a friends house and can't cast to tv using chrome cast. Anyone have this problem and or how can I solve it....tech support has not helped
I can't connect on my device Mac I'd 80-01-84-5D- 80-f8 when I have cablewifi open source around?
And that app is not available in the CDN App Store? Lots and lots of snowbirds with seasonal TWC accounts requiring access to wifi during their travels back and forth. Changing App Store account to US loses all of the purchases made from the CDN store in the past, music and everything.
to be very specific, it is where I work. I know business uses Time Warner and is listed on hotspot map but when at work there is no time warner hotspot that comes up on my phone and other employees either. Is it something a business has to pay for or possibly something they must do to turn it on? It is still listed as being an active hotspot on Time Warners wifi hotspot map.
Thanks
I pay for TWC Extreme internet at home. $60/month. When I connect to a "secure, encrypted" Passpoint WiFi hotspot I'm seeing ads over the top of my pages that clearly are yours. You are compiling a profile on me by reading my http traffic and rewriting the pages I view to inject your own ads over the top. This happens on Apple.com, Google.com and other obvious places.
Are you doing this with my encrypted sessions too? My home Internet?
It it even worth the couple of extra pennies? I would never click on such an ad! Or are you just selling my profile?
AT&T, and Comcast (Xfinity) have been caught doing this. Now it's your turn. Reading all of your customers traffic and compiling a profile is bad enough, but rewriting the javascript query is foul ball. That breaks pages and is really just tampering.
You don't even disclose that your service is ad supported! I assume my $60/month is how you get paid.

Your refusal to stay merely a pipe and insert yourselves in everyone's web traffic is why everyone is crying for net neutrality. Hope it was worth a few bucks.
